Yours Events Priorities

Yours Events Priorities

Yours offers its space for a wide range of events. In doing so we hold certain priorities, in terms of the types of work and people we wish to platform:

He ihirangi (content)

> “Interesting” work

What is the work itself trying to achieve?

Is it something new, original, applicable, or relevant?

> “Good” work

How does the work go about achieving its goal?

How effective is it in doing so?

> “Kind” work

What feelings is the work aiming to curate?

Does it respect the audience?

How else might the work be interpreted?

Who is the work for?

The process of how the work is created, including narratives of the artist, all play a part in the perception of work.

He tangata (people)

> Those disadvantaged

What is the background of the practitioner(s)?

Are they unfairly affected by the systematic oppression and inequalities of late-stage-capitalism? (ie, non-pākehā, gender-diverse, disabled, impoverished, etc.)

> Those in suitable need

Does the practitioner have access to other spaces?

Is there somewhere else that the work would be better suited to?
